Nestled at the foot of the Touwsberg, on the banks of the Touws River, lies Wolverfontein Farm. This farm, just off the present day Route 62, was established in 1890 with the building of Moreson Manor. This “Volstruis Paleis”, built at the height of the Ostrich Feather boom, and now a private residence, is your reception to the two accommodation options on offer – Zara Cottage and D’Waenhuis.
The Touwsberg, a spectacular granite edifice, lies between Barrydale and Ladismith, and is part of the Touwsberg Private Game Reserve. This pristine area offers the visitor unparalled access to the flora and fauna of the semi arid region of the Cape called The Klein Karoo.
These two private self catering cottages are in restored old farm buildings. We are proud to offer something unique with a mix of modern functionality and antique furnishings in character filled buildings. Each cottage has a private, exclusive use plunge pool and braai area. Eskom power with solar backup to run the lights, a plug point and wifi during loadshedding. Gas stove and oven with stove top kettle for that cup of tea or coffee during loadshedding.
Both Zara Cottage and d’Waenhuis have uninterrupted views of the Touws River valley.
